Expanded Format扩军后的新赛制 这次也是第一次三国联办的世界杯。It's the first World Cup ever hosted by three countries (由三个国家共同举办): the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 而且还有一个更大的变化：球队从32支扩军到了48支。48支球队也让本届成为规模最大的一届世界杯。比赛总场次也从64场增加到了104场。对于球迷来说，简直就是足球盛宴。 在英语里，这种变化叫做expanded format，就是“扩军后的新赛制”。 很多听众可能会问：48支球队到底怎么踢？ 新赛制的小组赛阶段发生了变化。Instead of eight groups, there will be twelve groups.12个小组，每组4支球队。 The top two teams from each group advance(晋级).再加上8个最好的小组第三（best third-place teams）。 这个变化特别重要。因为现在小组第三也有机会晋级。在英语里，他们叫做third-place teams（小组第三）。所以以前很多球队输两场基本就回家了，但现在不到最后一轮，谁都不知道会发生什么。 这也是为什么很多人期待更多Cinderella stories。 Cinderella stories：灰姑娘逆袭。就像灰姑娘逆袭的故事一样，指弱队奇迹般晋级。 另一个你会听到的表达是dark horse。 Dark horse：黑马。就是赛前没人看好，最后却一路爆冷门的球队。 02. Good News for Chinese Fans对中国球迷的好消息 对于中国球迷来说，还有一个好消息。 据媒体报道，这届世界杯大约70%的比赛都会安排在中国时间的上午。 Which is fantastic. No more staying up all night. 这就意味着再也不用熬夜追球了。很多老球迷听到这里已经感动得不行了。 在英语里，这种开球时间叫做fan-friendly kickoff time。 Fan-friendly kickoff time：对球迷特别友好的开球时间。 有人回忆说，以前看世界杯熬了太多夜。Now you can watch football and still go to work. 现在你可以一边看球，一边正常上班。终于不用一边看球一边喝咖啡续命了。 03. 最后一舞One Last Dance…
