भारतस्य स्वातन्त्र्यसङ्ग्रामकाले बहवः देशभक्ताः यथाशक्ति सङ्ग्रामे भागं वहन्तः स्वस्य देशभक्तिं प्रकटितवन्तः । तेषु अन्यतमः आसीत् कश्चन नापितः यः चेन्नैनगरे (पूर्वं मद्रास् इति तस्य नाम आसीत्) वसति स्म । अनया कथया सः कथं सङ्ग्रामे भागम् ऊढवान् इति ज्ञातुं शक्नुमः । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”) During India’s freedom struggle, many patriots expressed their devotion to the nation by participating in the movement in whatever way they could. Among them was a barber living in Chennai (then called Madras). This story shows how he too played his part in the struggle.
