On this episode of the Acid For Squares podcast, hosts Tanya Dahl and Cody Blue are joined by David Trotter, a former pastor turned trance channel and CEO of Awakened Magazine. After years of building and leading successful churches, David walked away from the world that had defined his life and began exploring the very spiritual practices he had once been taught to condemn. Growing up in an evangelical Christian family, David eventually followed his faith into ministry, becoming a successful pastor and helping lead multiple churches. What began as a calling and a blessing, however, gradually became a prison. Eventually, David left the church and embarked on a journey to explore his faith outside the confines of organized religion, experimenting with the spiritual modalities he once condemned, including meditation, breathwork, past-life regression, plant medicine ceremonies, and other practices that had previously been forbidden. Everything changed after an experience with 5-MeO-DMT, when David says two unseen spiritual beings began communicating with him from beyond the veil.
