Pastor Billy Driver opens by pointing to a sobering reality: we live in a world that spends over a trillion dollars a year convincing us that contentment is just one more purchase away. Drawing from Exodus 20:17, he defines covetousness as an illicit desire for what God has not given us — a heart that is dissatisfied with God's provision and seeks satisfaction somewhere other than Him. Paul reinforces this in Colossians 3:5, calling covetousness a form of idolatry, warning that it places people and possessions on the throne of the heart where God alone belongs. Pastor Billy then traces the Marks of a covetous heart — it doubts God, envies others, and breeds sin — walking through examples ranging from the fall in Genesis to David's sin with Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11. Against this, he sets four characteristics of a contented heart: it trusts God, gives thanks, loves others, and lives generously.
