Owen reminds us that being called does not mean giving up easily, nor does it mean becoming boastful. Instead, we are invited to humble ourselves in obedience to God and to recognise our complete dependence on Him. Total surrender means trusting that it is God who accomplishes the work — not our own effort or strength. We do not strive in our own ability; rather, we learn to do things God’s way.
