Karley and I explore how from a very young age, we're taught that intelligence equals good grades, failure results in shame, and authority means truth. Meanwhile we're taught almost nothing about emotional regulation, critical thinking, money, nutrition, or self-trust. We also discuss the consequences of overwhelmed teachers, oversized classrooms, university regret, trade school, technology, AI, creativity, political and social conditioning, generational trauma; and why some children are labelled as difficult, disruptive, or incapable when they may simply be bored, unsupported, or learning differently. There ARE incredible teachers, great schools, and good intentions throughout the system. That isn’t the point. The point is that our major institutions, from schools to medicine to government, are built on the same disconnected principles of: conformity, compliance, and control.
