About this episode

The episode discusses the murder of Jeanette Wilton and the recent developments in her cold case investigation.

On February 22, 2003, the body of 57-year-old Jeanette Wilton was discovered near her home in the Flint River, close to a train trestle.  Joseph Scott Morgan takes an in-depth look at the autopsy that showed the mother of three and grandmother to seven, had been sexually assaulted before she died of strangulation and multiple stab wounds to her neck. She also suffered blunt force trauma to her head and face along with contusions and postmortem abrasions. Dave Mack looks at the investigation where no murder weapon was found, no suspects identified, no arrest made, and the case went cold quickly.  Two decades would pass before the case was brought in from the cold, and with the help of the Western Michigan University Cold Case Program, the Michigan State Police Cold Case Team was able to examine the evidence and find forensic evidence that could be sent to Othram in the Woodlands, Texas, leading to the identification of a suspect and an arrest.
