About this episode

The episode discusses the controversial release of Mitrice Richardson from custody and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

A mother makes a difficult choice. When Latice Sutton learned her daughter had been arrested, she believed she’d be safest spending the night in custody. But just after midnight, Mitrice Richardson was released — without a phone, without transportation, and without anyone notified. Hours later, a homeowner spotted her six miles away in the dark hills of Malibu Canyon. Then she was gone. We ask the question her family still demands an answer to: Should she ever have been released that night?
