The Church is a community formed around the love and worship of Jesus as King. Unlike other communities and families that are formed by blood or common interests, the Church is a community of love formed around the worship of God. It is our worship for God that tethers us to one another. Without the centrality of worship, our love will fall apart. Our mutual love of Jesus is what allows the peace of Christ to dwell in our hearts. This kind of “peace” is not the kind of “inner peace” most of us desire in our lives. It’s the kind of mutual peace that people share when they dwell together in wholeness as family. This kind of peace is only possible when we center our lives together on Jesus.
