Don't Be Ruled By Your Emotions

This episode discusses the importance of grounding faith in the unchanging truth of God's Word rather than in fluctuating emotions.

Christianity is not founded on emotions, feelings, or personal experiences. While God created us with emotions and calls us to love Him with all our heart (Matthew 22:37), our faith must rest on the unchanging truth of His Word. Feelings rise and fall, but God's truth never changes. Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17). The apostle Paul warned that people would "not endure sound doctrine" but would seek teachers who tell them what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3-4). Christians are instead commanded to "test all things; hold fast what is good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Even sincere emotions can be misleading. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death." True faith comes not from feelings but from hearing God's revealed message. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). The noble Bereans were commended because they searched the Scriptures daily to verify what they were taught (Acts 17:11).
