Gary Benoit is editor-in-chief of The New American, a publication affiliate of The John Birch Society, and the author of Vanguard of the Americanist Cause: A Close Look at The John Birch Society. He has been a member of the JBS since joining as a teenager in 1968, and has been a member of its staff since 1977. He became editor of The New American in 1986 and assumed his current position as editor-in-chief in 2021. Over the years, he has also served as director of the Birch Society’s research department, editor of the JBS Bulletin, and publisher of The New American. He graduated magna cum laude in physics from the University of Lowell (now the University of Massachusetts Lowell) in 1976.
