Leafs Win the NHL Draft Lottery… Now What? + Avalanche Take Game 2
About this episode
The episode discusses the implications of the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the NHL Draft Lottery and analyzes playoff performances of the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild.
Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live! The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the Draft Lottery… now what? Does this change the entire direction of the franchise? Should the Leafs lean into a rebuild around the future, or does landing the top pick push them to go all-in and start adding immediately? And let’s be honest — it’s got to be Gavin McKenna, right? We also break down another dominant performance from the Colorado Avalanche as their offence continues to roll through the playoffs. Are the Avs starting to look inevitable? Plus, what should the Minnesota Wild do in goal moving forward? Did Filip Gustavsson do enough to hold onto the crease, or should Jesper Wallstedt get another opportunity after getting some rest? Then we preview Game 1 between the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres and go through the biggest keys to victory for both sides. Steven Ellis joins the show for another edition of The Next Wave as we dive into mock draft talk, who the Leafs could target, how frustrated Canucks fans should be after falling from No. 1 to No. 3, and whether any teams should seriously consider trading down based on where they landed in the draft order.
