The Princess and the Frog

The Princess and the Frog

From Deconstructing Disney by Rachel Casey, Erin Casey

November 24, 2025 · 2h 21m · Season 1 · Episode 62

About this episode

Erin and Rachel discuss the representation and political themes in Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

Erin and Rachel hop on down to 1920’s New Orleans, where Disney’s first Black princess spends most of her time as a frog in the Louisiana bayou. The Princess and the Frog (2010) provided much needed representation, but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of its race, class, and gender politics.
