12/07/2026 - Jacinta Lewis The Life Of David 1. God Has Purposed You to Paint Key Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:1–13 Israel wanted a king → Saul anointed, but later rejected (1 Sam 16:1). God sends Samuel to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king. David, the youngest, tending sheep, is seen, called, and anointed by God. Takeaways: You have purpose. God created you with intention. You may feel forgotten or uninvited, but God sees you. Even if you don’t know your calling yet, serve faithfully where you are. David’s preparation began in ordinary tasks (shepherding). Reflection: Do you believe God has a purpose for your life? Are you living like it’s true, even if you don’t fully know it yet? 2. In Order to Paint, We Must Prepare “The gifts God gives come in raw form, needing to be developed.” (Gary Millar) After anointing, David waited ~15 years before becoming king. He served Saul (playing lyre) and his father (shepherding) When Goliath mocked Israel, David saw a God-sized opportunity , not a giant-sized problem.
