The growth of data centers, and the amount of electricity expected to be required to meet that demand, is probably the biggest issue in the US power sector. US grid power supplied to hyperscale, leased and crypto-mining data centers reached about 64.4 gigawatts in 2025, nearly tripling since 2020. And that growth is accelerating.
