About this episode

The episode explores the tension between skepticism and belief in Jesus, questioning what it truly means to have faith.

We live in a world that prizes proof. If something cannot be tested, measured, or verified, we tend to hold it at arm’s length. That instinct can be helpful in many areas of life, but it also shapes how we approach deeper questions, especially when it comes to faith. Many people are not openly hostile to Jesus, but they are cautious. They want more evidence. They want fewer uncertainties. They wonder if belief is really reasonable or simply wishful thinking. At the same time, there are others who speak easily about belief, but their confidence may rest on habit, tradition, or second-hand experience rather than a personal encounter with the truth. So we find ourselves caught between two tensions: the hesitation of skepticism and the shallowness of untested belief. The question before us is not whether doubt exists, but what we do with it. Does skepticism close us off, or can it become a pathway that leads us to something solid and lasting? And what does it actually mean to believe in Jesus in a way that is real, grounded, and life-changing? We need to wrestle with a simple but searching question: can you believe it? Scripture: John 20:24-31 Speaker: Pastor David Hallett
