Philippians 3:12-21 - How to Be a Mature Citizen | Series: Philippians, Summer of Joy | Sam Holm | Preached Jul 5, 2026 In Philippians 3:12-21, Pastor Sam challenged us to ask: Where are you looking for hope when life feels uncertain? While the world points us toward politics, success, or circumstances, Paul points us to Jesus. Followers of Christ are called to look ahead by pursuing spiritual maturity, look around by following and becoming Christlike examples, and look up by remembering that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven. Lasting joy isn't found in the changing things of this world but in the unchanging hope we have in Christ. Maturing followers of Jesus find lasting joy by fixing their eyes on Christ and living as citizens of heaven. Outline: Look Ahead — Press on toward knowing Christ. (Philippians 3:12-16) Look Around — Follow Christlike examples and help others follow Jesus. (Philippians 3:17-19) Look Up — Live with heaven as your true citizenship and eagerly await Christ's return. (Philippians 3:20-21)
