About this episode
Damien Marie Athope discusses his research on African religions and their similarities to other old world religions, focusing on the concept of a benevolent sky creator.
We welcome in Damien Marie Athope, a one time student pursuing a career in Christian Counseling turned independent researcher. Damien's research led to a thirst for knowledge in the religions of many peoples and regions. Those studies included archeology and linguistics. As a result, Athope was able to present a survey of African religions and noticed they had some notable similarities to other old world religions. Primarily in the form of a sky creator that may or may not be gendered and is benevolent but removed from us humans. Perhaps this is the root religion. Perhaps it started somewhere else and returned to Africa. Decide for yourself.
