Growing up, Melissa often walked away from church with the message that she needed to “be really good.” It wasn’t until she truly understood the Gospel that she realized the good news isn’t about striving in our own strength, it’s about Jesus and His finished work on the cross. We don’t have to strive, we just have to believe. We talk about how easily we drift into self-reliance when problems arise, instead of turning back to God in quietness and confidence. She reminds us to trust God’s timing, His sovereign character, and to seek Him as our true source of comfort instead of counterfeit comforts that compete for our hearts.
