Thousands of years ago, Torgon the Latecomer was defeated and much of his Riverlands holdings were seized by House Mallister, who made themselves kings in turn. Ten years ago, Balon Greyjoy sent his eldest son Rodrik to attack those very lands, giving Lord Jason a chance to remind his ancient foes why the silver eagle of House Mallister has been the bane of the Ironborn since their founding. Though currently held in check by Black Walder, they have held most of their strength through the War of Five Kings and are poised to play a significant role in the downfall of House Frey and the remainder of ASOIAF.
