Exeter, New Hampshire. September 3rd, 1965. An 18-year-old kid, two veteran police officers, and an entire community faced something that forced the Pentagon to officially label it: unidentified. 2:24 AM: Norman Muscarello bursts into Exeter Police Station white as a ghost. Massive object with pulsing blood-red lights drifted silently toward him over Route 150. He dove into a ditch. No sound. No engine. Just brilliant red lights rotating in sequence. Officer Eugene Bertrand (Korean War Air Force veteran, aerial refueling specialist) drives him back to calm him down. Then horses start screaming. Object rises above tree line. Bertrand grabs his .38. "My God. I see the damn thing myself." Officer David Hunt arrives. All three watch impossible maneuvers: dead stops, 90-degree turns, silent hovering. Hunt: "A B-47 came over. You could tell the difference. There was no comparison." Air Force says Operation Big Blast training exercise. Bertrand wasn't buying it. He knew what B-47s looked like, what six jet engines sounded like. This made no sound. Witnesses launched letter campaign to Pentagon.
