About this episode

This episode introduces Mrs. Elton, a new resident of Highbury, and explores Emma's disdain for her character.

Highbury has a new resident, and she is certainly something. At long last, Mr. Elton's bride has arrived, and Emma finds her positively insufferable. Between Mrs. Elton's comparisons between Highbury and her brother's estate, Maple Grove, her insistence that she and Emma start a musical club, and her overly familiar way of speaking about Emma's friends, Emma is hard-pressed to find a single redeeming quality. This week's Friday Favorites brings another memorable character into the fold, so join Mrs. E as her introduction helps relax you into a night of warm and peaceful sleep. ----- Welcome to the Jane Austen Bedtime Stories podcast!
