About this episode

The episode discusses the importance of humor as a coping mechanism during war and conflict, featuring journalist Vanessa Beeley.

Vanessa Beeley is a British journalist who lived in Damascus (Syria) before having to flee hours before Israel bombed the region, following the deliberate collapse of the Assad administration. She grabbed what she had, jumped into a car, and raced over the border to Lebanon, where she now lives. I've known her for few years and she is the real deal. In this episode, we chatted about the importance of laughing in times of war (and conflict in general). Humour is a really vital coping mechanism. We also touched on recent online attacks she and I (and UK Column) have endured.
