Katie Van Slyke discusses foal watch, animal care, and various farm activities during the busy foaling season.
Foal watch is officially in full swing over here. 😅🐴 We’ve got overdue mares, late nights staring at the cameras, and the internet collectively yelling “GIVE US THE BABY” while I’m over here like… can we maybe wait until it’s at least 40 degrees? 😂 In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, I’m catching you up on where we’re at with the mares in the foaling window, what foal alert actually sounds like (spoiler: it’s way less dramatic than you’d think), and everything else happening on the farm at the exact same time. Foaling season, calving season, breeding season coming up, icy weather, plus some very real detours into snakes, donkeys, and some truly unhinged donkey lore. 🐮🫏🐍 We also talk about how many foals a mare can have, what it’s like foaling out for the first time, how weaning calves works, and how I figure out feed plans for the horses. And yes, we definitely brainstorm a much more dramatic foal alert system that probably needs to exist. 🔔🔥 If you’ve been hanging out on the live streams, thank you for keeping us entertained and awake. I appreciate y’all more than you know. ❤️ Shop Running Springs merch 🛍️ https://katievanslyke.net/ Chapters 00:00 Welcome 02:00…
