Leafs Playing Waiting Game With Sundin, But What Is His Role?
About this episode
The episode discusses the uncertainty surrounding Mats Sundin's potential role with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the implications for the team's management and player acquisitions.
The Toronto Maple Leafs’ front office overhaul stalls as the team waits on franchise legend Mats Sundin’s decision. Mike DiStefano and Dave Morassutti examine the uncertainty swirling around Sundin’s potential role, the ambiguity in the general manager search, and Toronto’s risky reliance on organizational icons with little NHL management experience. They also discuss the recent report suggesting that Auston Matthews and William Nylander call for more “dogs” up front and puck-moving defencemen, but is it even possible with limited trade assets and a weak free agent class? To end the show, they give their thoughts on the Oilers-Ducks overtime goal debate and why the NHL has waited too long to figure out goal review technology.
