About this episode

Mal interviews Erin McGuire about her journey from a government job to creating a summer camp for the sapphic community in France.

Today Mal sits with Erin McGuire who after being laid off from her government research job, took an unexpected leap, creating a summer camp at a château in the French countryside that has become a gathering place for women, with a large sapphic community at its heart. What started as a setback became an entirely new chapter built out of the love shown by the sapphic community. We discuss the impact that the lesbian community has had on Erin’s life and dive into the real impact of government DEI rollbacks and how those policy changes directly affected Erin’s work, and why their consequences extend far beyond the work.Follow Root and Rise at @__rootandrise__ or rootandrise.com, follow the show @madeitout and follow Mal @malglowenke.
