Reagan fought for its funding, envisioning missile-on-missile defense, ultimately leading to the Patriot system. This pressured Mikhail Gorbachev contributing to a nuclear deal and the beginning of the Soviet Union's end. Reagan armed freedom fighters to halt communism in places like Africa and Afghanistan, and it succeeded.
