About this episode

This episode explores the mysterious origins of the Inca Empire, including legends, symbolism, and architectural traditions.

The Inca Empire remains one of the most fascinating civilizations of the ancient world—but its origins may be even more mysterious than its rise to power. In this episode, we explore the legends of Viracocha, enigmatic elongated skulls, feathered-serpent symbolism, and the extraordinary megalithic stonework found throughout the Andes. Did the Inca develop these remarkable building traditions themselves, or did they inherit knowledge and sacred sites from civilizations that came before them?
