Today we’re breaking down why impact alone doesn’t move donors anymore — and what actually does. Here’s the truth: impact tells people what happened. But it doesn’t tell them why it matters right now. And that’s the real question donors are asking: Why this? Why you? Why now? If your message doesn’t answer those three questions, it won’t convert — no matter how impressive your results are. Take this example: “We served 10,000 meals this year.” That’s impact. It’s real. It’s important. But it’s distant. It feels like a report — not a reason to act. Now compare it to this: “Tonight, a family in your community is deciding whether to skip dinner.” Same issue.
