About this episode

The episode discusses the upcoming Netflix series 'Legends', which dramatizes the true story of a British undercover unit combating drug trafficking in the 1990s.

The upcoming Netflix series Legends dramatizes the fascinating real-life history of a secret British undercover unit formed in the early 1990s. To combat an unprecedented surge in international drug trafficking, Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise recruited everyday civil servants to infiltrate violent cartels. These ordinary individuals assumed fake identities, known as "legends," and lived double lives without formal espionage training or high-tech equipment. Based on Guy Stanton’s 2022 memoir, the six-part thriller explores the immense psychological burden and personal sacrifices endured by these undercover operatives. Starring Steve Coogan and Tom Burke, the production highlights a long-classified operation where working-class citizens risked everything to dismantle global crime syndicates from within. This gritty television adaptation aims to honor the unsung heroes of a forgotten chapter in Britain's war on drugs.
