On this episode, I sit down with Greg Bishop and Joshua Cutchin to discuss the UFO phenomenon, non-human intelligence, and the tendency of these subjects to have a great psychic impact on researchers and percipients. Cutchin is an author, folklorist and musician whose work in recent years has earned great acclaim for its insight, breadth, and power. Bishop is a researcher, podcaster, and art historian. His book, Project Beta, is considered one of the foundational texts on the power of government influence around UFOs to wreck lives and sow confusion. We discuss their perspectives on the current moment in ufology, whether government information is to be believed, then pivot to how witnessing a UFO can change lives and seems to represent a fundamental linkage between psyche and cosmos. We explore how different phenomena get brought together for analysis and discussion, and the risk that methodology poses for narrative flattening and category collapse.
