Don Fischer Download Original Airdate: May 14, 2023 Acts 8:5-8, 14-17 | 1 Peter 3:15-18 | John 14:15-21 Grant, almighty God, that we may celebrate with heartfelt devotion these days of joy, which we keep in honor of the risen Lord and that what we relive in remembrance we may always hold to in what we do. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, amen. This sixth Sunday of Easter is, in a way, the end of the teachings that started in the beginning of Lent when we saw Jesus entering into the world and getting ready to deal with the task that he had been asked to achieve by God. He was tempted and tested, and he proved that he had something in him that was going to enable him to be focused and to do what he was called to do. Next Sunday we celebrate his return, ascension to his Father. So what I love about the opening prayer of this liturgy is the beautiful way in which it describes what the scriptures are.
