In October 1946, 48-year-old Dagmar Peters was found murdered on Wrotham Hill in Kent after a lorry driver spotted a blue shoe at the roadside. The investigation was led by Chief Inspector Robert Fabian, later immortalised in the TV series Fabian of the Yard.
