The episode discusses Angel's struggle to rescue Connor while dealing with the chaos caused by the Beast in Los Angeles.

First, Angel has no time to process Cordelia and Connor’s new relationship status because the Beast is busy massacring its way through LA. When it turns Wolfram & Hart into a slaughterhouse, Angel couldn’t care less—until Wesley tells him Connor is trapped inside. Cue the reluctant team-up to rescue the prodigal son (and Lilah) while trying to figure out what the Beast wants. Then, the team discovers the Beast has a plan to cast a literal shadow over Los Angeles. They race to stop its suckjob tour, but not even help from a shocking ally can stand in the way of this solid foe. Cordelia has a vision of her time as a Power That Be that shakes her faith in Angel.
