Family expectations, religion, culture, school, work, and even gay culture handed us rules about who to be, how to look, what to want, how to spend, how to age, and what “success” should look like. So we adapted. We performed. We chased approval. We built fabulous-looking lives that didn’t always feel fabulous. But a happy gay life isn’t about doing more, buying more, proving more, or becoming someone new. It’s about unlearning what was never yours to begin with and building a life that actually fits who you are today.
