About this episode

This episode discusses the tragic cases of Naomi Hunte and Fiona Holm, highlighting police failures in handling domestic abuse and the consequences that followed.

When Naomi Hunte was found murdered in her own home, the police had a prime suspect. Naomi had called the police four times, on a man called Carl Cooper, she told them that he had been stalking her and subjecting her to abuse, but nothing was done. The police found a knife with Naomi's blood on it in Carl's home, CCTV showed him in the area just before he died, as well as mobile phone data that shows they spoke on the phone on the night she was killed. But still.... he was bailed and back out on the streets after the police said they didn't have enough evidence to charge him. Carl was free to date again... and he targeted a vulnerable woman called Fiona Holm. Fiona was never told that Carl was on bail for suspected murder, despite calling the police after he attacked her. And soon, the police would be investigating a double murder. This is REAL.
