About this episode

This episode discusses the implications of unduly lenient sentences in the UK legal system and the impact on victims.

3 Offenders, 2 Traumatised Victims, 1 Judge, 0 Days in Prison. Aprox. 830 cases are submitted to the UK's Unduly Lenient Sentencing Scheme each year. Members of the public and those affected by the crimes committed can ask for the case to be reviewed by the Court of Appeal if the sentence doesn't match the public's expectation for the crime. And every year, between 100-140 have their sentences increased.... but what happens to those who don't? This is REAL. If you want to report a sentence that you feel is unduly lenient from a Crown Court and you are in England or Wales, please see here: https://www.gov.uk/ask-crown-court-sentence-review If you have been affected by sexual abuse, please see the below organisations that offer support, advice and information: https://www.thesurvivorstrust.org - For people who have been the victim of sexual abuse (UK) https://www.rainn.org/ - Sexual Abuse Support USA https://www.nasasv.org.au/support-directory - Sexual Abuse Support Australia https://www.rcni.ie/useful-links/ - Sexual Abuse Support Ireland If you need help or support with domestic abuse please get in touch with the following organisations: https://havendas.org.uk/ - UK…
