What happens when someone finally reads something that exposes what's wrong in their life? In 2 Kings 22:8-20, a young king named Josiah discovers a long-lost copy of God's law buried in his own temple, and when he hears it read aloud, he doesn't shrug it off. He tears his clothes, seeks answers, and takes it seriously enough to change course entirely. That response is what the Bible calls repentance, grief over what's wrong followed by a genuine turn toward God. It's not about feeling guilty for guilt's sake. It's about recognizing that the God who made you actually has something to say about how you live, and that ignoring it doesn't make it less true. Josiah was a good king, but even he pointed beyond himself to someone greater: Jesus, who doesn't just deliver a message from God, but is God's message in person. The same question this ancient king faced still stands: when truth confronts you, will you dismiss it or respond?
