The episode explores the contrast between the people's expectations of a dominating leader and the true nature of Jesus as King.
Through Jesus' triumphant entry, He sheds light on the people's heart posture. Although they are waving palm branches and welcoming Jesus into the city, Jesus knows their heart posture in wanting a dominating leader to conquer the Roman rulers. Essentially, the people in Matthew chapter 21 are faced with the same question as we are today.......will you worship and serve the Jesus you've crafted in your mind or the true King Jesus?
