This week we are discussing Captain N: The Game Master, an animated television series that premiered in 1989, bringing Nintendo's biggest video game heroes and villains together in one Saturday morning adventure. The show follows Kevin Keene, an ordinary teenager who is pulled into the world of Videoland, where he teams up with Princess Lana, Simon Belmont, Mega Man, Kid Icarus, and others to battle the evil Mother Brain and her army of classic Nintendo villains. Equal parts action, comedy, and gloriously over-the-top '80s cartoon, Captain N became a nostalgic gateway into Nintendo's growing universe, even if it took a few... creative liberties with the characters we thought we knew.
