About this episode

Dr. Matt Sherson discusses the importance of self-awareness and avoiding burnout in chiropractic practice.

Apparently, New Zealanders have it in their core to just "make things happen" and during my conversation with Dr. Matt Sherson at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, I certainly understood this to be true by the way he has orchestrated his career. As head of the technique department at the college, he's had the opportunity to guide students for years, but what came up the most during our conversation was the importance of knowing yourself, and why self-awareness really should be the foundation for the type of life in business that you build. Matt talks about his experiences getting close to burnout, what types of questions he believes we should be asking ourselves to really find meaning and joy in the work that we are doing, and how we often get in our own way by limiting ourselves with our beliefs. We also discussed what's happening in the schools these days, different techniques, research, and some of the myths of teaching, but consistently our conversation came back to being yourself and building a life that really is aligned with who you are - very much the ethos of a Rockstar Doctor Life.
