Logan Mac discusses his debut album 'Til The Ground' and shares personal stories behind his music.
It normally only takes a song or two for anyone to get sentimental or teary-eyed at a Logan Mac show. Frank and Falls saw it first-hand at this year’s Crossroads Acoustic Fest in Seymour, Indiana in April. Mac’s deeply emotional music and raw reality-of-life stories are moving. Mac joined us to talk about his songwriting, songs and new album Til The Ground this week on Roots Music Rambler. And what you’ll quickly discover is the hurt and longing you hear in his music comes from an ironically jovial and funny feller. Logan’s music had us crying but talking to him had us laughing just as hard. The Oklahoma-born and bred singer-songwriter used to work the oil rigs. It’s that blue collar world he often writes about in songs like “Steel toe boots” that anchor a beautiful, 12-song LP released this year with vinyl available for pre-order. But the song that grabbed Frank’s attention which we talked about quite a bit was an older tune called “Redbird” which is about Logan’s experiences with red birds and sensing they are his father checking in on him.
