But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests? When I look at this passage from Acts, I see a story that always makes me stop and think. It’s the story of Saul. Now, Saul wasn't exactly a "good guy" in the eyes of the early church. He was a man of great zeal, but it was a zeal directed against the very thing God was trying to do. He was a persecutor. He was a man who thought he knew the way, and he was ready to bring the believers bound to the chief priests. But then, the road to Damascus. That’s where the story pivots. We see in Acts 9:20-22 that after Saul met Christ, he didn't just get a little bit better; he was changed.
