As we prepare for Eid al-Adha, here is a short reminder about the beautiful Sunnah acts we should perform step-by-step on this blessed day. Eid al-Adha is not just a celebration — it is a day of worship, gratitude, sacrifice, and remembrance of Allah. First, wake up early for Fajr and begin your day with dhikr and takbeer:“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-hamd.” Second, take a ghusl and clean yourself well. Wear your best modest clothes and apply perfume if you are a man. The companions used to beautify themselves for Eid. Third, unlike Eid al-Fitr, it is Sunnah for Eid al-Adha to delay eating until after the Eid prayer — especially if you plan to eat from your sacrifice. Fourth, continue saying the takbeer on your way to the masjid. Fill the streets, homes, and hearts with the remembrance of Allah. Fifth, attend the Eid prayer early with humility and joy.
