In June of 2025, the Government of Alberta released a survey addressing what they referred to as “explicit materials in school libraries.” Now, as the results of this survey have led to the release of Ministerial Order #030/2025: Standards for the Selection, Availability, and Access of School Library Materials , the Shout! For Libraries team has come together for a roundtable discussion to address this “book ban” and its impacts on the present and future of librarianship in Alberta.
