About this episode

Stu Crawshaw introduces a new series on the Ten Commandments, discussing their significance and purpose in the context of faith.

Most of us know the Ten Commandments exist, less of us know why they matter. In this introduction to our new series, Stu Crawshaw takes us back to Moses' final sermon in Deuteronomy 4, and makes the case that the Ten Commandments are not a burden imposed by a distant, demanding God, but the shape of life for a people God has already saved. Three things stand out: the law is Israel's wisdom before a watching world, God is known by his word not his image, and the law can't be forgotten without losing its power. And underneath all of it — the law is there to show us we can't keep it. Which means we need a saviour. Which means we need Jesus. Kicking off a new series on the Ten Commandments.
