Richard O’Shea is captain of the Global Mercy, the world’s largest purpose-built civilian hospital ship, operated by Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships brings hope and healing to communities through free surgical care, medical training, and practical support, serving alongside local healthcare systems across Africa and beyond. Richard is home for a few weeks before returning to the ship in September as the Global Mercy heads to Ghana for its next mission.
