About this episode

This episode features Jorlita Morales discussing the Bunga Women's Association and their innovative production of sweet potato products.

Jorlita Morales is President at Bunga Women's Association (BUWA). Bunga Women’s Association (BUWA) is a duly registered women-led organization that has transformed locally grown sweetpotato into innovative value-added products, including kamote chips, sweet potato noodles, juice, and their flagship Takudo fried chips. Established in 2016, the association strengthened its operations through branding, financial analysis, marketing assistance, and technology support from VSU-TBI and partner institutions. Despite setbacks brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastation of Typhoon Agaton, which severely damaged their production facility, BUWA demonstrated resilience by rebuilding operations and relaunching in a temporary site. Their journey reflects determination, effective technology utilization, and the power of community support in revitalizing local enterprises. This episode is recorded live at the VSU Technology Business Incubator in Baybay City, Leyte. This episode is in partnership with VSU Agriculture Technology Business Incubator, Visayas State University, PhilRootCrops, VSU Food Technology Department, ViCARP, and Raise Region VIII.In this episode:00:00 Introduction01:21…
