The episode discusses the pitfalls of self-preservation through the metaphor of ostriches and encourages living selflessly for others.
Osteriches are notoriously awful parents. They abandon their eggs in the sand, trusting the sun will incubate and hatch them. They bury their heads in the sand when danger comes. Recognizing the futility of sinful self "preservation," we seek the Lord and live selfless lives for the benefit of others.
