How the ‘brutal’ murder of Cork postman Barry Daly left a town in mourning
About this episode
The episode discusses the brutal murder of postman Barry Daly in Doneraile and its impact on the community.
The night of October 11, 2025 was meant to be one of celebration in the north Cork town of Doneraile. Locals gathered to mark a GAA victory, continuing their festivities into the night. However, over the next few hours tensions began to rise on the town's Main Street. A short time later, local postman and father-of-five Barry Daly was beaten to death with a golf club outside his own home. Now, 21-year-old Alex Deady has been sentenced to life in prison for his murder. Kevin Doyle is joined by Irish Independent southern correspondent Ralph Riegel to examine how a community celebration descended into a brutal killing.
